Brian Slipka

Brian Slipka is the founder and serves as the leader of True North. The vision of True North began as, and is now a result of, Brian’s desire to do business differently: to chase something bigger than simply profits or selfish ambition. By applying a winsome approach to relationships and leadership, he began to forge the cultural imprint of what is now a diverse holding company that independently manages and operates business across many platforms and industries, across the country.

Throughout his career as a senior executive, Brian began investing in numerous independent operating companies, eventually forming the framework of today’s True North Equity Partners. Over time, and with his own hard-earned capital, Brian began acquiring controlling interest in independent operating companies. Among these are Sunbelt Business Advisors and True North Mergers & Acquisitions, where he serves as chairman and CEO. He also is the founder and CEO of Honour Capital, LLC, focused on equipment financing. Today, the combined family of over 20 independently owned small businesses has revenues in excess of a quarter billion dollars. Brian’s experience includes building startups, buying existing businesses, selling/exiting businesses, and angel investments in numerous companies, as a limited partner/investor, while serving on the boards of many. He is the owner of multiple types of commercial real estate, including multi-tenant, medical office, and commercial. He is the very definition of “self-made.”

Brian and his wife, Megan, founded the Slipka Foundation, now the True North Family Foundation, a public 501(c)(3) nonprofit committed to character in leadership and community stewardship, where they have endowed numerous scholarships and community projects.

Brian’s career highlights the unique skillset and drive that set him apart from others, no matter the peer group. Brian started from scratch and, after graduating from the University of Minnesota's Carlson School of Management, he worked his way up through sales and leadership positions at major professional services and technology companies and ultimately served as an executive at one of the largest bank-owned tech financing companies in the country. Brian’s hallmark characteristics are servant-based leadership, a bias for action, and profitable growth. The business and mission of True North is to be a steward of our God-given resources and talents and to be a cultural witness to this with the independently owned businesses that True North conducts and leads.
